JAMMU: In an attempt to boost the image of the army and exhibit military grade arms and ammunitions among school students, Tiger Division put up weapon and equipment display for two-day near Zorawar Auditorium, Jammu University, here on Thursday.
The event, which concluded on Friday, started at 10:00 AM on Thursday and soon it witnessed a huge gathering of students from various schools, colleges and Jammu University besides 300 NCC cadets. Army displayed an exciting collection of weapon and equipment spread over two days presents a wide range of small arms, artillery guns, Armoured vehicles, communication setup and other specialist equipments.
“The display kindled patriotic fervor and pride amongst the youth and went a long way towards educating them about the most capable and relevant instruments of comprehensive national power,” Defence Spokesperson Lt Col Manish Mehta said. “The display aimed at ‘Know Your Army’ concept and motivated local youth of the region to join army as a profession and highlighted the contribution of the organisation in nation building,” he said. “A counseling centre was also established to inform student of various entry schemes to join Indian Army and various pamphlets and posters were also distributed,” he added.
