The alleged burglar, Mudasir Ahmad Lone of Mughalpora village, was arrested on a specific information from Kupwara town and two stolen mobile handsets were recovered from his possession, a police spokesman said.
“Lone was wanted in about five burglary cases – four in Kupwara and one in nearby Handwara town,” he said, adding, some more arrests and recoveries are expected at his disclosure.
He said Abdul Rashid Malik, an alleged drug peddler, was also arrested by a police party during patrolling in Kupwara town.
“Malik was noticed moving under suspicious circumstances in the main market and subsequently nabbed,” he said.
He said the search of his handbag led to the recovery of 20 bottles of codeine phosphate, a banned substance abused by addicted youth.
Another drug peddler, identified as Abdul Rashid Mir, was arrested along with 10 codeine phosphate bottles from Battergam village, the spokesman said.
He said both the peddlers were booked under NDPS Act and are being questioned to nab their associates.
