Three hardcore gangsters arrested, 35 gms heroin recovered

JAMMU: Satwari Police on Tuesday claimed to have arrested hardcore gangsters and recovered 35 grams of heroin, four sharp-edged weapons and cash of Rs 3,80,000 from them. “In its continuous drive against the drug menace and its circulation among the youth Satwari Police achieved a major success when it succeeded in arresting three hardcore gangsters along with and 35 grams heroin, four sharp-edged weapons and a cash,” SP City South Jammu Sandeep Chaudhary told reporters.
Acting on specific information, a check point was set up at Shamshan Ghat, Bhour Camp by Satwari Police led by SI Arun Singh Salathia and arrested two hard-core criminals, Sandeep said. He said police signaled a motorcycle bearing registration number JK02BC-8588 to stop however the riders of the motorcycle instead of stopping tried to escape from the spot.
After chase the police party succeeded in stopping the motorcyclists and on checking duo persons were detained, he added.
The detained persons were identified Rakesh Kumar alias Montu, son of Makhan Lal Sharma and Kamaldeep Singh alias Nickole, son of Gurbachan Singh, both residents of Ward No 2 Bhour Camp.
On checking, the police official said, 20 grams of Heroin (Chitta) and three sharp-edged weapons along with cash of Rs 3,80,000 have been recovered from their possession. Both the accused persons were arrested and motorcycle and cash seized.
“Both the accused are known drug peddlers and accordingly case FIR no. 59/2017 under section 8/21/22/29 NDPS Act and 4/25 Indian Arms Act stand registered at Police Station Satwari.
It may be mentioned here that the accused persons are hard-core gangsters and several criminal cases stand registered against them in various police stations of Jammu.
Previously also Rakesh Kumar was booked under NDPS Act in case FIR NO. 184/2013 and FIR No. 14/2016 U/S 307 RPC 4/25 Arms Act of Police Station Satwari.
In another Naka laid by Incharge PP Chattha SI Sandeep Charak at Hakkal Morh apprehended the person who disclosed his name as Mohinder Singh alias Raji, son of Sadhu Singh, resident of Bhour Camp Ward No 2, SP City South said.
During his frisking, he added, 15 grams of heroin and one sharp edged weapon was recovered from his possession.
In this regard case FIR NO. 60/2017 U/S 8/21/22/29 NDPS act and 4/25 Indian Arms stand registered at Police Station Satwari. The accused is a Known drug supplier of the area and was previously also arrested in NDPS case at PS Satwari in case FIR No 173/2016 dated 07/09/2016 is presently on bail.
With the arrest of these criminals’ drug suppliers locals are feeling a sigh of relief as they were supplying drugs to the youth of the area.
The arrest was made by Insp. Manjeet Singh SHO Satwari along with SI Sandeep Charak l/c Police Post Chatha and SI Arun Slathia of PS Satwari under the close supervision of Mohd Rafiq Manhas SDPO City South Jammu.
