Three-day pulse polio immunisation drive commences

R S PURA: MLA R S Pura Dr. Gagan Bhagat started the first phase of the three-day intensified pulse polio immunisation drive at R.S Pura Community Health Centre . BMO R.S Pura and Tehsildar R.S Pura along with other officials were also present to administer the drop of life to the newly born kids, enthusiastic parents were seen carrying their kids to the pulse polio booths at R.S Pura.
Later the legislator took a round of different wards of the Community Health Centre R.S Pura. Staff members, volunteers and ASHA workers and other prominent citizens of R.S Pura were present during the programme and an advisory was issued that all the children in the age group of 0 to 5 years affiliated with creche centres, playway centres, Aanganwadi centres run by J and K State Social Welfare Board, will be administered pulse polio drops from today at various health centres across the R.S Pura Constituency.
Prominent among those who were present included SDPO R.S Pura Harjeet Singh, Harbhajan Singh, Brijesh Rana, Natharam, Inder Sudan, SHO RS Pura, Omprakash Chachu, Happy Broaka and Garu Ram.
DODA : Thousands of children below the age of five years were administered pulse polio drops during the Pulse Polio Immunisation Day throughout Chenab Valley.
DCs and CMOs along with other health officers inaugurated the Pulse Polio Immunisation Day by administering polio drops to the children at their respective District Hospitals of Chenab Valley.
At Kishtwar, Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Ghulam Nabi Balwan inaugurated the Intensified Pulse Polio Programme in district Kishtwar. Function was organised at a special polio booth at District Hospital Kishtwar where DC Kishtwar started the programme by giving Oral Polio Vaccines (OPV) to a few children in presence of CMO Kishtwar Dr.Sham Prasad Gupta, Dr.Daisy Parihar District Immunisation Officer, Superintendent Distt Hospital Kishtwar and Dr. Parvaiz Iqbal BMO Kishtwar.
At Doda, DC Doda Bhupinder Kumar along with CMO Doda inaugurated the Pulse Polio Immunisation Day at Old Hospital Doda.
At Bhadarwah, BMO Bhadarwah Dr Yudhvir Singh along with SDM Bhadarwah Mohd Anwar Banday and Tehsildar Bhadarwah Mohd Amir inaugrated the Pulse Polio Immunisation Day at Sub Distt Hospital Bhadarwah.
DARHAL: A function was held at Sub District Hospital Darhal to initiate the pulse polio programme which was inaugurated by Imam Jamia Masjid Darhal Hafiz Muhammad Sayeed and attended by senior citizens and PRI members.
Block Medical Officer Darhal said that Director Health Services Jammu issued strict instructions that no child from 0 to 5 years should remain without the polio drops. Giving details on this programme BMO said that a total 132 polio booths and 528 employees including volunteers, members of NGOs, Govt. teachers, AWW and ASHAs were employed to cover this huge task in Darhal and Thanamandi.
SAMBA : Pulse Polio Day was observed at Government District Hospital Samba. The booth was inaugurated by Dr Devinder Manyal in presence of Dr Rajeev Sharma Chief Medical Officer Samba, Dr Arun Sharma Medical Superintendent District Hospital Samba, Dr Sudarshan Katoch Block Medical Officer Samba, Dr Anju Bala Dy Chief Medical Officer Samba, Dr Sanjayk Sharma District Health Officer Samba, Dr Sameer Koul District Immunisation Officer Samba, President Rotary Club Samba, other officers and officials of District Hospital Samba.
Later the booth at District Hospital Samba was visited by Dr Baldev Sharma Director Family Welfare and Immunisation J and K.
Meanwhile, Pulse Polio Camp was held and served by Lions Club Samba, under the presidentship of its President Lion Amardeep Singh. The camp was inaugurated by its the senior most lion member H.K Gupta.
The Lions Club is in the service of this activity since its inception in the country and always in the fore front of community service, 351 children in the age group of 0-5 years were administrated two drops of pulse polio medicine from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
Prominent among the present in the camp included President Amardeep Singh, Sita Ram Sapolia, Inder Singh, J.R Thappa, Surinder Mishra, Pawan Kumar, Sabaj Singh, Rakesh Singh, Rajnish Pargal, Adv Vijay Gupta, Rohit Pargal, Vikas Gupta, Prince Anand, Kamlapati Mishra, Krishan Singh and others. Health and Police Department employees also gave service in the camp dedicatedly and devotedly.
126 Bn BSF also organised a pulse polio vaccination programme at Batallion HQ Painthee, Samba . Programme was inaugurated by Smt. Sushila Devi BWWA President 126 Bn BSF. She advised citizens of Painthee to get done vaccination of all the children’s of age below 5 years to make India polio free country . Around 170-180 children got vaccinated. Staff of 126 Bn also did door to door vaccination around the village Painthee.
POONCH: ACR Poonch Shafiq Ahmed inaugurated the pulse polio campaign launched by Chief Medical Officer Dr Mumtaz Bhatti on Sunday.
According to CMO 415 pulse polio booths were established besides mobile teams to cover the target of 70,158 children of 0 – 5 years of age in which they have covered 85 per cent strength. ASHA workers, Anganwari workers, AMC students and medical staff were deployed in the campaign.
MLA Shah Mohd Tangray inaugurated the drive at Mandi, BMO Dr Parvez Ahmed Khan inaugurated at Surankote.
CMO said that the remaining 15 per cent children will be covered within next two days.
UDHAMPUR: An Intensive Pulse Polio Immunization (IPPI) drive commenced at district Udhampur here in the District Hospital on Sunday.
Joint Director Planning, Rakesh Jamwal, inaugurated the drive.
Chief Medical Officer, Dr Chander Parkash, informed that 543 vaccination booths have been setup in different parts of the district to cover 87,116 children of 0-5 years for vaccination in the district during the campaign. Besides, five district monitors and 112 supervisors were deputed for smooth conduct of the programme in the district.
Medical Superintendent, Dr. Narinder Butyal, Deputy Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Santosh Sharma, staff members, volunteers and ASHA workers were present during the programme.
Meanwhile, volunteers of Manav Uthan Sewa Samiti (MUSS) unit Udhampur organised one pulse polio booth at Matador Stand near Town Hall Udhampur for the convenience of local pubic so that all needy infants can be benefited. Sadvi Chitra Bai Ji and Dy. CMO Santosh Sharma along with number of volunteers administrated polio drops to infants under 0-5 year age group. While another polio camp was inaugurated by BMO Ramnagar Rajesh Gupta at Bus Stand Ramnagar in which volunteers and staff members of Health Department carried on the drive.
Others who were present on the occasion -Suram Chand Thappa, Mool Raj, Raj Singh, Prem Singh, Madan Lal, Hari Chand, Joginder Kumar, Bittu Ram, Mohan Lal, Ramesh Kumar, Bishan Dass, Rakesh Kerni, Sharda Devi, Seema Thakur and Surju Devi.
NOWSHERA: SDM Nowshera Harbans Lal Sharma inaugurated the Pulse polio campaign launched by BMO Nowshera Suresh Gupta on Sunday.
According to reports a target of 15137 children of 0 – 5 years of age was kept and a total of 67 booths were established besides mobile teams. The BMO himself went to the brick kilns in Nowshera and administered the polio drops to the children of Kiln labour.
BMO said that the target could not be completed due to scattered and border area which will be completed within the next two days by visiting door to door.
