Three-day heritage exhibition concludes at Kala Kendra

JAMMU: A three-day heritage exhibition organised by the Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages was concluded here at Kala Kendra on Friday with the presentation of cultural show.
Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Shantmanu was the Chief Guest on the concluding function.
The exhibition has attracted a good response from people belonging to all walks of life.
The visitors especially tourists, artists, cultural dignitaries, students and staff of the educational institutions that visited in the venue recorded appreciations on ‘Visitor Book’ for holding this purposeful event after a gap of many years.
The Academy has organised the event in association with some private collectors included Inder Singh Chairman, Himalayan Heritage Museum, Raj Bharti President Viraj Kala Kendra Jammu, K.D Anand and K.K Gandhi showcased quite appreciable items of heritage importance.
Earlier, welcoming the guests Haroon Rashid, Secretary Academy said that this exhibition has encouraged us to plan and organise more such events in the future.
He further impressed upon the Cultural institutions , NGOs to come forward and join the hands of Academy in its endeavour promoting and preserving age old heritage of all the three regions.
Shantmanu visited the stalls displayed at the venue and also have a glance over the items depicted in the exhibition.
He conveyed his appreciation to the efforts of the Academy for organising the heritage show which makes the visitors to know their age old traditions. He asked Academy to help other institutions of the State in their efforts in preservation and documentation of Cultural properties.
He emphasized for joint efforts of government institutions in this field.
Dr. Lalit Gupta, Art Historian also spoke about the importance of the documentation of Cultural Heritage of the State.
Dr. Arvinder Singh Amn Additional Secretary presented vote of thanks.
The main attraction of the concluding programme was live performance of folk culture by folk parties booked by the J and K Cultural Academy from the inner parts of the remote village of Jammu Division.
