Third Open Volleyball Tournament begins

HIRANAGAR: Two-day Third Open Volleyball Tournament started at Volleyball grounds, Govt High School Sherpur, a village situated at Indo-Pak International Border in Tehsil Hiranagar.
The tournament which was inaugurated by Swamy Krishnanand Maharaj popularly known as Qelley wale Bawaji is being organised by Volleyball Club Sherpur with active collaboration of District Volleyball Association Kathua. Sixteen teams from J&K and Punjab are participating in this tournament. Opening match was played between Volleyball Club Nagrota and Volleyball Club Samba which was won by Volleyball Club Nagrota by 2-1, scoring 25-15, 12-25 and 15-13. Handsome cash prizes have been announced by Sherpur Club for winners and runners-up teams.
Large number of people from adjoining border villages witnessed the interesting matches.
Prominent persons present were Mohin?er Sharma, General Secretary District Volleyball Association Kathua, Rakesh Sharma, a prominent sportsperson and volleyball lover, Dit Sharma retired Tehsildar, Rajinder Sharma (Bittu), Devinder Sharma and Madan Lal.
