Srinagar: Security forces on Tuesday arrested a terrorist associate of the Al-Badr outfit from Pulwama district, police said here.
Yawar Bashir Dar is a resident of Arigam in Pulwama, they said.
“Police in Pulwama along with the Army and CRPF, at a joint checkpoint established at Bandzoo Crossing, arrested one active terrorist associate linked with proscribed terror outfit Al-Badr and recovered incriminating materials, arms and ammunition, including a pistol from his possession,” a police spokesperson said.
IED planted by terrorists along road in Sopore detected
Srinagar: Security forces on Tuesday detected an improvised explosive device (IED) planted on the side of a road in the Sopore area of Baramulla district, officials said.
The IED, which was planted by militants, was detected by a road opening party of the security forces at Tulibal in Sopore in the morning, they said.
The officials said a bomb disposal squad has been called to the spot for defusing the IED.
A case under relevant sections of law has been registered at Pulwama Police Station, the spokesperson said.
Meanwhile, Police in Pulwama produced chargesheet before the competent court of law against 08 accused persons involved in case FIR No. 65/2022 of Police Station Litter regarding recovery of an IED at Armulla Lassipora area of Pulwama.
On June 16, 2022 police received information that an IED have been planted in Armulla Lassipora area of Pulwama. Subsequently, Police swung into action and raided the said location and recovered an IED weighing about 15Kgs fitted in pressure cooker and also apprehended 02 accused persons. During course of investigation, the arrested accused persons confessed their involvement in the crime and also disclosed the names of 05 more accused persons associated with proscribed terror outfit Al-Badr for their active involvement and role in procuring/transporting of the said recovered IED. Accordingly, a case was registered and on the basis of evidence gathered offence punishable under relevant sections of law for commission of instant crime were established. The investigation of the case concluded and charge sheet against 08 accused persons including one foreign terrorist handler has been produced before the Court of Special Designated Court under NIA Act at Srinagar.
