Tension is not a diseaseat all

Dr. G. D. Kumar

Since long I have been listening / reading about tension which the medical experts i.e. all the doctors feel is responsible for all the major and many minor problems which a human being suffers. Major diseases / problems having roots as tension are:
* Blood pressure whether high or low
* Heart attack
* Angina pain
* High cholesterol
* Sugar: Hyper or hypoglycemia
* Depression
Now, question is: What the tension is and what are the reasons for it:
To me it appears that this question is very difficult to answer because tension which the world links to the cause of many diseases, a few of which have been mentioned above cannot be a reason for the diseases since tension / worry has been there in the society from the beginning of human race.
Let us see how it can be defined: As per the medical experts thinking more is tension. As far as I understand based on my experience and interactions with the friends and relatives tension is thinking / brooding / ruminating upon a particular thought continuously due to which one’s brain enters into a circle / loop, due to this a person’s energy is wasted and not utilised for a productive thing.
From the definition we can find out the reasons for tension: For this we have to see what are the factors which makes a person’s brain to enter into a loop, these may be as under:
* Fear of unknown:
* If a particular thing will happen or not i.e. uncertainty
* If I do a particular thing, a bad happening may be there i.e. pessimism
* If I do not do a particular thing, some unforeseen happening will be there i.e. superstition
* Meeting of deadlines to achieve certain objectives / targets.
* In service life meeting business targets: Without trying to achieve targets, start thinking that if I am unable to achieve the target what the boss will say to me or how will I face the fellow workers who will be able to achieve their respective targets.
* Waking up child
* If the child is not able to catch the school bus / school van, then it will really be a big problem to drop the child at school.
* If the child is a bit late in reaching home from school, the thought comes to the mind that some unforeseen happening might have happened and mother/ father / both remain tense / start weeping and remain tense / keep on weeping till the time child reaches home, when the parents come to know that the vehicle got delayed because of traffic jam.
* Facing a particular person: If a particular person comes before me, who has a particular character how I will face him as I do not have courage to face him. It is quite possible that he may visit to thank you for the good work you have already done to him.
* Travelling: If I travel by train / bus I, may not be able to reach on time and if I travel by train it may get crashed or high jacked.
* Death of a Person. The lady of the house thinks, in case I die how my family will run / how my child will be taken care of / how my husband will survive.
*Living Life Style and Eating Habits: It is major reasons for adding to tension of a person.
* Geeing up late in the morning leaves less time available to meet deadlines of the morning hours which even cause one to even loose temper frequently.
* Eating frequently fast food which is full of spices and saturated fats, which makes one lazy to waste quality time and leaving less time at his disposal to complete necessary jobs.
* Spending more time before TV, on mobile, computer and internet.
* Other Reasons:
* Entering into unnecessary war with peer group i.e. comparing amenities available in own house with those available in neighboring house.
* Always intending / aspiring that my child should remain No. 1 in the class in every sphere i.e. in academic area and extracurricular activities.
* Always comparing the status with nearby fellow workers.
* Always trying to satisfy lust rather than needs.
