JAMMU: A 24-year old Delhi based girl was rescued from near Maha Maya temple area where a Tempo driver took her from Jammu Bus Stand area. The accused has been booked under sections of attempt to rape.
The girl, who is regular visitor to Mata Vaishno Devi temple, was waiting for an auto rikshaw at K C Chowk near Jammu Bus Stand when the tempo driver approached her. She told him to drop her near Raghunath temple. However, he drove her to Maha Maya temple area.
The victim, narrated to the police, that she opened GPS on mobile and came to know that she is out of Jammu city. Thereafter she dialed 100 number and informed police.
A police flying squad from Bagh-e-Bahu rushed to the spot and rescued the girl who was given sever thrashing by the accused as he had come to know that she has informed the police.
The accused Mohd Arif, son of Abdul Gaffor, resident of Gursai Poonch was arrested from the spot. FIR (73) under section 366, 376, 511 RPC has been registered at Bus Stand Police Station.
