Teenager dies of suspected dropsy, three of a family hospitalised

JAMMU: An 18-year-old boy died of suspected dropsy case in Jammu while three of a family have been hospitalized.
A boy namely Yash Pal (18), reportedly died of suspected dropsy symptoms in Government Medical College (GMC) on January 28, sources said.
They said his mother Manisha Devi (42), father Raj Kumar (46) and younger brother Happy Singh, (13), are also hospitalised due to suspected symptoms of dropsy.
The family belongs to village Kattal near Sukrala in Billawar Tehsil of Kathua District.
A health official, however, said that the family was admitted to the hospital suffering from suspected dropsy symptoms caused by consuming adulterated edible oil.
Hospital sources, however, said that the test reports of the family admitted are positive and the teenager had died of dropsy.
“We have yet to receive the reports to confirm the disease dropsy,” Dr Gurjeet Singh, Director Health Jammu said.
Minister for Health Bali Bhagat said that no such report has been received so far and he will ascertain the facts.
