Technical snag takes Radio Kashmir off air

SRINAGAR: In a stunning development, Radio Kashmir Srinagar on Saturday evening went off air and consequently several popular current affairs programmes like “Shehar Been”, “Gaimi Bayan Hund programme” and “Wadi Ki Awaz” could not be broadcast.
Programme Head Radio Kashmir Srinagar Hamayun Kaisar said that “The Narbal transmitter of Radio Kashmir developed a technical snag and current affairs programmes including “Shehar Been”, ” Gaimi Bayan Hund programme” and “Wadi Ki Awaz” could not be broadcast.”
He said that efforts were on in full swing to make the transmitter functional.
Interestingly, the separatists have asked people to stop the employees of Radio Kashmir, Doordarshan Srinagar and State Information department from reaching their duties on September 1 as part of resistance programme “to stop propaganda war machinery of Indian State”.
Meanwhile, according to a Srinagar based news agency, the State Government here is taking all possible measures to ensure Radio Kashmir, Information Department and Doordarshan employees attend the offices on September 1.
Quoting sources, the agency reported that employees working in these institutions would be provided accommodation at TRC and Circuit House and security to ensure that they reach their offices.
