Teachers delegation calls on Dy CM, discusses issues

JAMMU: A delegation of All Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh
Teachers Federation (AJKLTF) led by its State President, Devraj Thakur and General Secretary Ratan Sharma met Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Nirmal Singh and apprised him of the problems being faced by the teaching community of the State.
The delegation demanded adjustment of teachers promoted as Masters in February 2014, implementation of transparent transfer policy, adjustment of surplus staff, provision for transfer in favour of ReT teachers, maternity leave, timely release of salary grants, timely modification of transfer orders, autonomy of education be restored across the State and the participation of teachers in decisions pertaining to education be ensured, autonomous and independent regulatory commission consisting of educationists be established at State level to regulate and control the education system in J and K.
The delegation demanded that 10 per cent of GDP by the Central Government and 30 per cent of the State budget be spent on education so as to make basic amenities like teachers, books, playgrounds, buildings etc.
Deputy Chief Minister gave a patience hearing to the delegation and assured that their genuine demands would be redressed in short span of times.
The delegation comprised of Maheshwar Parsad, Pardeep Kumar, State Vice Presidents, Manjeet Singh, Neeraj Sharma, Kartar Chand and Shivdev Singh Secretaries.
