JAMMU: Nitish Mahajan, (Former Member Railway Advisory Board and social activist) on Friday inaugurated daylong Civil Defence (CD) awareness camp at Tawish Group of Institutions, Channi Rama.The camp was attended by about 48 teaching and non-teaching staff members of Tawish College and School. The camp was organized by R.K Tikoo, a prominent social and cultural activist, and sector warden under the directions of Controller Civil Defence (DC Jammu) and Tajinder Kaur, Deputy Controller, CD Jammu.
This awareness camp was organised to prepare the people at different levels to face the challenges of internal security and disaster management. The master trainers from Civil Defence were Purshotam Kumar and Ram Dayal Saini.
Certificates and honorarium cheques from DIG Police, Home Guards, Civil Defence and SDRF, J and K were distributed to 60 students of the school who were given five days training earlier.
Puja Malhotra, Chairperson Tawish Group presided over the function. She hailed the efforts of Sector Warden, Civil Defence for organising such awareness programmes. Among others present included B.S Puri (Retired Chief Education Officer), Narender Sharma and Sanjay Ghai.
