Tawi Trekkers take Sprawling Buds students to Mohoregarh

JAMMU: Part of the ongoing one-day short treks series programme, of Tawi Trekkers J&K, third group of about 144 students of Sprawling Buds ICSE School, Bantalab, here taken to Mansar- Mohoregarh area.
Sonam Sidharth, a senior member of Tawi Trekkers led the group of budding trekkers along with Abhimanyu Sherpa, Vikas Singh, Prerna Charak and Ananjan Raghav Khajuria.
Seven teachers of the school led by Neha Sharma also escorted the budding trekkers who were on their maiden adventure to explore and enjoy nature.
With this the total participation in this programme has so far gone over 350 with an overwhelming participation of about 200 girls. Earlier, the club successfully organised a short trek from Kattal Batal to Aithem via Bhed Devta for 102 students including 51 girls of Oriental Academy Senior Secondary School, Jammu.
A 12 kilometers heritage trek from Sagoon to Purmandal for 101 students of PSPS Government College for Women Gandhi Nagar, Jammu was also organised by the club and sponsored by the Directorate of Tourism Jammu.
Earlier, after a sumptuous breakfast at Mansar the budding young trekkers who were on their maiden trek enjoyed the main attraction, a soft trek of about four kilometersin the Mansar- Mohoregarh area and were thrilled to have a panoramic view of the serene lake and the mother mature at its best back at Mansar.
They visited the local zoo, maintained by the Department of Wild Life Protection, where they saw many beautiful birds and wild animals and learnt about their habitat and their behavior.
“The aim of such short treks, in which about 2000 boys and girls are expected to participate, is to ‘Catch Them Young’ and imbibe in the young minds a spirit of adventure, love for nature and above all a supreme sense of self confidence so as to mould them into bold and responsible future leaders/builders of the country,” said president of Tawi Trekkers, J&K, Ram Khajuria.
