Task Force urges JU non-gazetted employees to join duties

STATE TIMES NEWS
JAMMU: A meeting of the Task Force constituted by the University to look into the demands of the striking employees of the Jammu University Non Gazetted Employees Union (JUNGEU) was held to review the situation that has arisen in the University as a result of the ongoing strike since 23rd June 23. “The Task Force expressed its concern that despite the University having made several appeals to the striking employees in view of the demands of the Union either having been addressed and agreed upon or being vigorously persued and taken up with the competent channels, the members of the JUNGEU were still continuing with their strike”, said Registrar, University of Jammu.
The Task Force also noted that despite the academic session having commenced w.e.f. July 18, 2016 and instead of facilitating the academic work at the campus, the JUNGEU had instead decided to shut the Hostel messes and suspend the cleanliness work at the Campus. “The Task Force expects the striking employees to let good sense prevail for the benefit of all and not to let the University functioning fall prey to the whims and fancies of an individual or a group for whom the interest of the University is not paramount above any other interest”, said the Registrar. The Task Force also clarified the status of all the seven demands of JUNGEU and stated that while the orders of regularisation of the concerned helpers in the Bhadarwah Campus and the three Malies at the Main Campus have already been issued besides considering promotion of 17 per cent Class IV quota of Graduate employees as Junior Assistants, the issue of creation of positions of Safai Karamcharis and Malies; funding of the Human Genetics Centre; Removal of the pay scale of Rs.2750-4400/- (pre-revised) and the payment of allowances to the Helpers / Assistants had already been forwarded to the concerned official quarters for consideration after the due vetting of these items by the President of the JUNGEU.
