JAMMU: Seeking regularisation of daily rated workers (DRWs), casual labours and need based workers engaged in PHE, I&FC, PWD, PDD and other engineering departments, former Deputy Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Tara Chand urged the Government to provide justice to these employees who have given over two-decades of their productive years of life as daily wagers.
Addressing the gathering at Khour after paying tributes to former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi on his 25th death anniversary on Saturday, Tara Chand said that present Government has betrayed the public by false promises. It was Congress Government which provided water, power and road connectivity in rural and far flung areas of the State.
In scorching summers, water supply in the entire area is negligible as there are long power cuts. The people are raising hue and cry but none in the government bothers about their plea.
“BJP Government is also not doing anything for the compensation of PoK refugees. Congress started the process and BJP has abandoned it,” former DyCM maintained.
A function was organized at Khour by senior congress leader Tara Chand and workers in Khour in which rich tributes were paid to Rajiv Gandhi on his 25th death anniversary.
Former deputy CM Tara Chand said Rajiv Gandhi had taken the prestige of Nation to the new heights. His vision gave a new direction to country in the field of Education, Science and Technology. He recalled the services rendered by Rajiv Gandhi towards Nation and the development of the people.
