JAMMU: Coming down heavily on State BJP leadership for acting as lame ducks before its alliance partner PDP over the issue of abrogating Article 370, which at some point of time was ‘do or die’ for the saffron brigade, former Deputy Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Tara Chand on Tuesday asked the party to clear its stance on the issue.
In a statement issued here, the senior Congress leader asked the BJP leadership in State that the party should open its mind whether the issue which is being posed as of prime importance for past 70 years and its leaders are time and again lamenting for abrogating Article 370 shall be resolved or hanged on to encash people’s emotions in the coming elections to ascertain triumph.
Talking on the issue of delimitation of Assembly seats, Tara Chand again poked the BJP leadership asking whether the party has any plans to even the seats in Kashmir and Jammu provinces or the matter was blown out of proportions during last elections just to befool Jammu’s electorate as in the case of ‘Achhe Din’ Jumla floated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and spread by one and all in the Saffron brigade.
He also asked the helmsmen of BJP steering the party in J&K that do they have something in offing to give respite to reserved category people in case of reservation in promotions. Citing the case of other states, Tara Chand questioned that this poor category of people is enjoying this privilege in other States what is the stance of State BJP? Roping in BJP the prime constituent of State and Central dispensations as far as the issue of Article 370 is concerned, he asked the party leadership to make public the hitch which is stopping it to abrogate Article 370.
