JAMMU: Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand, along with large number of supporters on Wednesday filed nominations at Returning Officer’s office at Khour, Devinder Rana Provincial President National Conference (NC) filed his nomination at Nagrota along with number of supporters while Bharat Choudhary, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for Jammu East filed his nominations at Jammu on Wednesday.
While addressing the rally, Tara Chand said that all out efforts have been made to address the issues facing the people living in the constituency and he is indebted to them who have given him mandate to represent them for record third time.
He said the constituency has seen unprecedented development in the recent years and is now on among the top in road infrastructure, adding that road connectivity has seen tremendous growth and now every village of the constituency is connected by more than one road.
Calling upon people not to fall prey to the divisive forces, Tara Chand said certain parties are spreading false campaign and trying to deviate attention of the people from core issues of peace, prosperity and development.
In Nagrota, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah while addressing an election rally in support of NC nominee Devendra Singh Rana blamed the Congress for leaving the state of Jammu and Kashmir on the verge of polarisation in 2008 during the Amarnath Land row.
“You divided people of the state, but we (NC) brought them together. There has been 70 per cent decline in the militancy in Kashmir, lakhs of tourists are visiting the state, we have developed the state and now you term me as a failure,” Omar said, referring to the allegations of the Congress leadership for terming his government a “failure”.
He accused the Congress for taking the credit of all the developmental works done under his leadership.
Omar ridiculed BJP leadership for targeting his party for promoting dynasty rule in the state and said the saffron outfit itself was promoting the same.
Meanwhile, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate from Jammu East, Bharat Chowdhary, filed his nomination papers before Returning Officer on Wednesday.
It was biggest show of strength by any candidate amongst all political parties from Jammu East.
The procession started from Panjtirthi with more than 3,000 supporters, majority of whom were youth and after passing through various Bazaars of the City, it had swelled to more than 5,000 when it reached Raghunath Mandir Chowk. He was welcomed by the various prominent people and Bazaar associations with garlands and sweets and adorned with Dogri Pagri at Raghunath Bazaar.
Prominent who accompanied Bharat Chowdhary were Zafar Khan – former Corporator, SM Gill – former MLC, Rashid Malik, Chowdhary Hamid, Ashok Jogi, Rafiq Mallik, Parveen Akhter, Vijay Raina, Mubariz Khan, Peter, Ram Sarup Gupta, Deepak Handa.
After filling nomination papers, Bharat Chowdhary thanked his supporters and well wishers for coming out in such large numbers to express their faith in pro-people agenda of PDP. He once again promised that he will do his best to implement his development agenda in the constituency and take effective steps like implementation of need based and speedy development works, improve civic amenities, give boost to tourism, job creation for youth and develop Jammu as a smart city and a heritage tourist destination.
