JAMMU: The Tamil Nadu team took home the overall trophy with highest 22 points in its kitty on the concluding day of the five-day long 36th Sub-Junior (Boys and Girls) national Tenni-koit Championship here at Green Field ground, Gandhi Nagar.
Pondicherry with 13 Points and Andhra Pradesh with 12 Points followed the overall champions.
The Championship was organized by the Jammu and Kashmir Tenni-Koit Association under the aegis of Tenni-Koit Federation of India and in collaboration with Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council.
As many 500 players and officials representing 21 States and UT’s from all over the country participated in the championship.
Jammu Municipal Commissioner, Devansh Yadav was the Chief Guest at the closing ceremony and SSP (Dr.) Koshal Kumar Sharma was the Guest of Honour who distributed prizes to medal winners.
Yadav in his address lauded the efforts of the organizers for the smooth and successful conduct of the championship and assured cooperation from Jammu Municipal Corporation in motivating youngsters towards sports to keep them away from drug abuse.
He appreciated the Tennikoit Federation of India president Rajeev Sharma and his team Kouser Jabeen and Mohammad Ishaaq.
The dignitaries later handed over championship trophies to the winning and runners up teams.
In Singles (Boys), Utkarsh Dilip Punewar from Maharashtra won gold medal Naitik Liladhar Warma (Maharashtra) won Silver medal, P BalaDarshan (TN) won bronze medal and Adyand T (Kerala) secured the fourth place.
In Singles (Girls), P Poornima (TN) won gold medal, S Vinsi (TN) won silver, Sinchana G (Karnataka) won bronze and Tanuja (Karnataka) secured fourth place.
In Doubles (Boys), Siripurapu Sai Kumar and NeeliGowtham Sanjay (AP) won gold, S Sakthivel and T Abhishek (TN) won silver, Asif AJ and Sharan Krishna T (Kerala) won bronze and Basit Nabi and Owais Bilal Wani (J&K) won the fourth place.
In Doubles (Girls), Pavishka and Divya Sri. B (Pondy) won gold, Dibyajoti Pal and Priyadarshini Behara (Odisha) won silver, R Rithika and A Asmita (TN) won bronze and Ishika Umesh Mishra and Ankita Ishwar Bombate (Maharashtra) secured fourth place.
In Mixed Doubles, Goalla Mahidhar and Killuri Indu (AP) won gold, D Gokul and A Rituparna (Pondy) won silver, Krushna Pravin Chilewar and Aashta Sanjya Mishra(Maharashtra) won bronze and S Anbuselvan and R Sudar (TN) secured fourth place.
Prominent personalities from the sports field were also present on the occasion including Baldev Singh Billawaria former Dy. Mayor JMC, Mohd Hanief Chief Sports Officer JKSC, Kuldeep Magotra Secretary General Volleyball Association of J&K, Capt Murti Gupta Secretary General J&K Lawn Tennis Association, Sunil Sharma General Secretary Archery Association of J&K, Sharat Chander Singh General Secretary J&K Amateur Athletics Association, Baljinder Singh Divisional Sports Officer JKSC S.P Gaur Vice-President Tenni-Koit Federation of India, M.R Dinesh Kumar Secretary General Tenni-Koit Federation of India, H.S Srikant, Treasurer Tenni-Koit Federation of India, Mohd. Ishaq Co-Chairman TKFI, Kouser Jabeen Secretary General J&K Tenni-Koit Association, Technical Officials from Tenni-koit Federation of India and Incharge’s/Coaches/PET’s/Mentors and staff of J&K Sports Council in a glittering ceremony at Green-Field Ground Gandhi Nagar Jammu.
