Talwara migrants hold protest, demand relief

STATE TIMES NEWS
REASI: Hundreds of Talwara migrants on Wednesday held a massive demonstration at Talwara nearly 100 kms north of Jammu city demanding implementation of SC order dated July, 2006 granting relief in cash and kind to Jammu migrants at par with Kashmiri migrants.
The demonstration was led by Anita Thakur General Secretary of JKNPP and Chairman and President of Talwara Migrants Action Committee, Balwan Singh and Jagdev Singh.
Addressing the migrants, Anita regretted that the Jammu migrants have not been given any relief for the past nine months which amounts to contempt of SC.
She threatened that the Panthers Party shall file a contempt application in the SC though a contempt application of Jammu migrants is already pending in the High Court at Jammu since 2009.
The Panthers Party leaders who led this movement for Jammu migrants were arrested in 2007 near Katra. The SC on 12th August 2016 had awarded damages of Rs 4 lakh to the Panthers Party leaders against their illegal detention. The Jammu migrants declared that they will demonstrate at Jammu on 20th August 2016 demanding implementation of SC order to release compensation to Jammu migrants (Talwara) according to the judgment of the SC.
