Take return of KPs to its logical conclusion: KP Sabha

STATE TIMES NEWS
JAMMU: Kashmiri Pandit Sabha, Jammu, welcomed the initiative taken by Home Minister in writing to the State Government to identify and appropriate about 16,800 Kanals of land for creation of three townships for the safe and respectable resettlement of the displaced KP community.
President KP Sabha, K.K Khosa urged upon the community to return back to the land of their forefathers which has become even stronger after the passage of 27 years since exodus. The Sabha urged the State and the Central Government to finally take this exercise to its logical conclusion and not leave or abandon it due to pressure from destabilising forces within and outside the Valley who do not want the situation to improve and the community to regain its lost space in the Valley. The government should not take the threats from Hurriyat seriously which are meaningless and hollow, he added.
“The Agenda of Alliance (AOA) of the present government needs to be implemented in letter and spirit and in a fixed time frame. The Group of Ministers constituted to oversee the implementation of the AOA is requested to accord a high priority to the point about resettlement of KPs in the Valley since its implementation according to the desires and aspirations of most of the community members will go a long way in normalising the state of affairs prevailing in the State. It will also help in sending strong signals to the international community that it is the writ of the GoI which runs large in the State of J and K. Simultaneously it is urged that the work on the construction of accommodation for the PM package employees should be completed expediciously in order to mitigate their suffering which they have been facing for the last five years. The GoI has already earmarked funds to the tune of Rs.2,000 crore for the same,” he added. The recruitment process for the remainder of the 6,000 posts needs to be expedited to serve as a plausible confidence building measure, he stated.
The meeting was attended by S.L Bagati, B.L Tikoo, Ashok Kher, Subash Dhar, Dr. Usha Tickoo, Dr. Ashok Koul, R.L Koul and Shama Handoo.
