Sushma Swaraj may have done it out of ‘humanitarian’ way by asking UK Govt to help former IPL Commissioner Lalit Modi to get his travel papers released. There is nothing wrong as far as BJP top brass are concerned but how can one forget that the minister who is in the centre of a controversy was unaware of Lait Modi’s status while recommending UK Govt for the release of his papers for getting his wife treated for cancer. Modi is on Enforcement Directorate’s look-out notice for his financial bungling in IPL. It is very naïve of a Foreign Minister, whose daughter is advocate of Lalit Modi in the case and there are charges of husband taking favour from Modi for getting his nephew’s admission in UK university. All these pattern weaved tighter makes Sushma Swaraj’s innocence of asking ‘what benefit did I pass or what did I change’ irrelevant. Looks either side is trying to be too smart or the people are naïve to understand the intricacies. She instead of taking shelter under ‘innocence’ should have put in her papers till she is cleared of the charges. How it can be possible that one ministry-Finance Ministry issues a lookout notice through Enforcement Directorate and the other Foreign Ministry under Swaraj helps the accused get his travel papers on ‘humanitarian’ grounds. Is it not the question of impropriety? Or misuse of office. It looks caught in an awkward situation BJP leaders especially Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Rajnath Singh are trying to defend the minister’s action so that infighting in the party does not come in the open. It looks Modi magic is on waning and the realisation must have dawned on mentors of BJP, Rashtraiya Swamyamsevak Sangh (RSS) bosses, who literally set Govt agenda and is in fact defacto government which has Modi, Rajnath, Swaraj as faces. This was evident when senior RSS leader Indersh Kumar came out in defence much ahead of BJP clarifying the issue. All this shows Sushma episode has not gone well and all is not well within the BJP house itself.
