KISHTWAR: Government’s tall claim to make India neat and clean under Centrally Sponsored Scheme ‘Swach Bharat Abhiyan’ has totally failed in Kishtwar and this beautiful Valley is missing its sheen with every passing day due to careless and pathetic attitude of authorities.
The Prime Minister’s flagship scheme ‘Swacch Bharat Abhiyaan’ is totally unimplemented in Kishtwar area where playing grounds and parks are in detorating condition.
According to reports, Subash Park is its live example, which is part of the historic Chowgan Ground considered as heart of Kishtwar adjacent to Tourist Reception Centre (TRC) which is full of garbage and no one is bothered to take this matter of great concern seriously.
Almost every citizen of Kishtwar town and its surrounding areas including minor children use this park for playing and daily walk but due to dump of garbage and its bad smell irritates people.
Every pilgrimage tourist from outiside the district like to visit the Historical Chowgan and other religious places but due to pathetic attitude of concerned authorities, these important places which can attract the tourists are losing their sheen.
During last month on the conclusion of Annual Machail Yatra, thousands of devotees were staying in Kishtwar town and also use to visit the Chowgan Ground and Subash Park which were most beautiful tourist spots of Kishtwar town but they got disappointed after visiting there only because of garbage dumping.
In ‘Swacch Bharat Abhiyaan’ lakh of rupees are being drawn for the cleanliness of Kishtwar town but it is unfortunate that Chowgan Ground and Subash Park is full of garbage and no one is bothered to take care of this park.
Even during the recent visit of Union Minister Dr.Jatinder Singh to Kishtwar, where a meeting was organised by BJP unit of District Kishtwar and also had arranged lunch at famous picnic spot Char-Chinar (adjacent of Chowgan Ground) for all the workers who were invited from all over the district to attend the public meeting, it is a matter of great concern that the plastic (use and throw) plates and glasses used for lunch were thrown all over in the historic Chowgan Ground which shows double standard of ‘Swach Bharat Abhiyan’, a flagship scheme of BJP Government.
It is pertinent to mention here that Kishtwar-Sinthan Top National Highway is to this place and everyone passing through this road faces bad smell of dumped garbage and such thing give bad name to the town.
A local resident Ravi Kumar Shan said that we can’t understand why the authorities are not taking any step to clean this park.
Shan demanded an enquiry into the amount being drawn under Swach Bharat Abhiyan, which may be misused by the concerned authorities.
Another resident Surjeet Badyal demanded immediate repair of this park so that people can have sign of relief.
Meanwhile many orginisations and locals also expressed their concern over the detorating condition of this park and demanded from the district administration and Kishtwar Development Authority to immediately repair and clean this historic park otherwise be ready to face the people’s anger.
