SVC seeks fast track probe into sale of State land

STATE TIMES NEWS
SRINAGAR: The State Vigilance Commission (SVC) on Thursday directed Vigilance Organisation (VO) to complete the remaining part of the investigation into the illegal sale of land at Gharota of Jammu Tehsil so that departmental and legal action is initiated against the revenue officials and the beneficiaries involved in the scam.
The direction came while examining the investigation report furnished by Vigilance Organisation in FIR (23/12) registered with Police Station, Vigilance Organization Jammu on November 30, 2012.
The investigation report, prima facie, established involvement of Patwaries, Girdawars and Naib Tehsildars by misusing their official position while issuing Fards (extracts) of land (Shamilati Deh) fraudulently in favour of private persons besides facilitating illegal sale of community land (Muffad-e-Aam), measuring about nine kanals at village Gharota in tehsil Jammu, with active connivance and conspiracy of some private parties.
After having a threadbare discussion in the case at a meeting of the Commission, held under the chair of the Chief Vigilance Commissioner, the Commission instructed the Director Vigilance Organisation to ensure that investigation of the case is completed early so that all those guilty of bartering the interests of the Government are proceeded against under law.
