SVC issue summons CEO SMC over illegal construction

JAMMU: The State Vigilance Commission (SVC) on Friday issued summons to Chief Enforcement Officer (CEO), Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) to appear before it on June 14.
SVC, which met under its commissioner, Kuldeep Khoda has asked CEO, SMC to appear in person on June 14 before the commission in connection with an enquiry over illegal construction of a building, a SVC spokesman said.
Earlier, the commission had received a complaint from Imtiyaz Ahamd Fashoo alleging that one Nazir Ahmad Jet has constructed a building at Urdu Bazar, Srinagar in violation of building permission granted by SMC in connivance and conspiracy with the corporation officials, who instead of initiating any action to stop the violation allowed the violator to raise the building, he said.
Taking cognizance of the complaint, the commission sought a report from SMC, which revealed that no action has been taken against the violator by the CEO despite getting information from the ward officer concerned, the spokesman said, adding he also failed to take necessary steps for demolition of the structure, constructed in violation of the sanctioned plan, he said. The commission has decided to sought the CEO’s explanation and the reason for not initiating timely action to stop the violation, besides the omissions and commissions in discharging his duties, he added.
