Surinsar Patwari lands in Vigilance trap

JAMMU: State Vigilance Organisation on Wednesday caught a Patwari red handed while demanding and accepting bribe in lieu of getting mutation attested of the land situated at Surinsar.
According to FIR, a complaint was lodged by one Narayan Singh, son of Major Singh, resident of Surinsar, alleging therein that Patwari Halqa Surinsar, Mohd Sharief was demanding bribe in lieu of getting mutation attested of the land measuring one Kanal and one Marla, situated at Surinsar, duly purchased by the complainant through proper sale deed.
FIR 17/16 under Section 5(2) Prevention of Corruption Act 2006, was registered against Mohd Sarief, Patwari.
After completing necessary legal formalities, in presence of two independent witnesses, a trap team, headed by DySP H L Pandita and Inspector Vikram Sharma was deputed on the spot.
During the trap, in presence of the independent witnesses, the accused Patwari was caught red handed while demanding and accepting Rs.4,000 as bribe from the complainant for attesting mutation in his favour. The baited money was recovered from the possession of the accused Patwari.
In the recent past, Vigilance Organisation Jammu, has arrested one Naib Tehsildar and one Girdawar in similar traps, while demanding and accepting the bribe amount.
Vigilance Organisation has further resolved to conduct more such traps in near future involving infamous but high profile corrupt government servants.
