SRINAGAR: Congress attacked PDP BJP Government over the power crisis that has hit the Kashmir Valley in peak winters, saying it was answerable for the situation.
In a statement issued here on Tuesday, State General Secretary J and K Youth Congress and Executive Member PCC, Sheikh Aamir Rasool today said power woes have worsened in the Kashmir Valley leaving people high and dry.
Rasool said this winter, as the night temperature plummets to extreme freezing conditions, the power supply to the entire Valley has been severely erratic with outages sometimes lasting entire nights.
“Even the metered areas are not spared and are subjected to frequent outages. The Power Department should do away with the metering system or improve the power supply,” he added.
Aamir Rasool said “students were the worst sufferers as studies have been badly affected by the grim power scenario. During the nights, the power goes off for hours and in absence of power, students are forced to study under candle-lights.” He said power crisis in the State was the outcome of mis-governance, wrong priorities and inefficient management by the Coalition Government as it has not worked out any winter action plan for the same.
