REASI: Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) to be used in Assembly elections in Reasi on 2nd December would be kept in three strong rooms across the district amid tight security, District Election Officer-Shabir Ahmad Bhatt said here on Wednesday.
Talking to media persons, Bhatt said Central and State Armed Police Forces have taken charge of the premises where strong rooms would be established. These are under CCTV glare.
Each strong room will have only one entry with double lock system. While one key is with the strong room in-charge, another has been kept by an officer not below the rank of Additional District Magistrate. A control room has been set up adjacent to each strong room for strict vigil, DEO said.
In Reasi, at least 403 EVMs will be used on 2nd December, whereas 602 machines including reserve have been sealed and safely stored in the strong rooms. There are three Assembly segments in the district and one strong room has been dedicated for safe custody of EVMs of each constituency, added District Election Officer.
“A 24×7 security cover has been planned with Central and State Armed Police Forces of police personnel guarding strong rooms and its surroundings,” said Senior Superintendent of Police Reasi-Vivek Gupta.
District Election Officer along with SSP Reasi, Returning Officers of all three Assembly segments, along with other officers and security agencies took stock of arrangements at various strong rooms.
