Stop harassing hoteliers: AJHLA

JAMMU: All Jammu Hotels and Lodges Association (AJHLA) expressed concern on the delay being caused in providing sewerage connections to the hotels despite assurance by the authorities.
Addressing a meeting of the association held under the chairmanship of Inderjeet Khajuria, President AJHLA Pawan Gupta said that State Pollution Control Board (SPCB) has unnecessary harassed hoteliers of Jammu despite State Government assurance. He said Finance Minister, Haseeb Drabu during his pre-budget meeting with hoteliers of Jammu ensured sewerage connections to the hoteliers as the of Sewerage Treatment Plant (STP) being constructed by NBCC for Government of Jammu and Kashmir, which is going to connect all residential and commercial areas of old Jammu City, will be completed soon. He said despite Haseeb Drabu’s assurance State PCB continuously harasses the hoteliers.
Pawan urged upon the Sewerage Department to complete the work on the layout of pipes and provide connections to the hoteliers in Jammu who are under constant pressure of the Pollution Control Board (PCB).
He appealed to the State Government for its intervention to ensure sewerage connections to the hoteliers at the earliest and in the meanwhile to direct J&K State PCB not to harass the hoteliers.
Narrating the economic crisis the hoteliers are facing, he said that the PCB has already sealed the operation of occupancy in rooms exceeding 19 rooms in the hotels which cannot be made operational for occupancy unless sewerage connections are provided.
Others present in the meeting include Inderjeet Khajuria, Pritam Sharma, Krishan Lal Gupta, H.S Manhas, Baldev Raj, Swarn Singh, Sankul Gupta, Vinod Jandial, Magat Ram and Sunil Suri.
