State Tug of War meet gets underway

JAMMU: The Third Senior Open State Tug of War Championship, organised by the Jammu and Kashmir Tug-of- War Association, was declared open by Association President, Hardeep Singh Anand at Unique Public Higher Secondary School, Gadigarh, near here, on Wednesday.
Around 200 players, representing affiliated district units, educational institutions and clubs are taking part in this competition.
Speaking to the distinguished gathering, the PRESIDENT said that sports was the only medium through which one can develop his personality and can remain fit and healthy.
It will be out of this competition that the selection committee of the association shall name the State team for upcoming 30th Senior Men National Championships and 15th Senior Federation (men and women) Cup at Anandpur Shaib from January 13.
Prominent among those present in the opening game were Jodh Singh Isher (working president), Jasvir Singh (joint secretary), Ravinder Singh (international Tug of War player), and Nirlap Kaur (Principal Unique Public Higher Secondary School).
The matches were officiated by the technical panel including Gaurav Dubey and Sourabh Kumar.
The Results: District Jammu beat Samba 2-0; Unique Sports Gadigarh defeated Jammu Loins Club 2 -1; district Pulwama beat Budgam 2-0, District Kathua blanked Kulgam 2-0; District Poonch trounced Diamond Club Satwari 2-1, Adarsh Club Miran Sahib downed Khalsa Club RS Pura 2-1.
