JAMMU: The State Level Project Presentation of 22nd National Children Science Congress 2014, being organised by National Council for Urban and Rural Development Society (NCURDS) Jammu concluded on Saturday at Handa College of Education, Sainik Colony here. The programme is being supported and catalysed by NCSTC and Department of Science and Technology (DST) Govt. of India, New Delhi. About 600 child scientists drawn from across the length and breadth of the State presented more than 70 Science based projects in the programme. Dr Deepak Sharma and Dr Deepak Kumar both from Meerut and Dr Rajeev Sharma of Patiala University, Punjab evaluated the child scientists in their projects.
Out of these projects, 16 projects have been shortlisted for National Level NCSC which is going to be held at Bangalore from 27th to 31st December 2014. Out of 16, 10 projects from Jammu region while 6 from Kashmir region got selected.
The valedictory function was presided over by Er. Anuj Sinha, Chairman, National Children Science Congress, Ex-Head NCSTC, Department of Science and Technology whereas S.K Raina, (Vice Principal, State Institute of Education Jammu), Ajmer Singh, (Field Advisor, SIE Jammu), and Dr. K.K Kapoor, (Professor Department of Chemistry, University of Jammu) were the Guests of Honour. Other guests included Gurpreet Handa, Ashiq Hussain, Kuldeep Gupta and Zahoor Zaffar Khan, (JMI, Delhi).
The Teams from Kashmir region were headed by Shabir Ahmed, State Coordinator, Kashmir Region and M.Y Zagoo State Academic Coordinator, Kashmir.
At the end of the programme, Mr. Zaffar Ullah Khan (Founder Secretary NCURDS) thanked Vikram Handa, Director, Handa College of Education and Principal, Tiny Tots Hr. Sec. School and volunteers from Tiny Tots School who helped in coordinating and organising the event. Dr. Ashiq Hussain, Chairman NCSC and Kuldeep Gupta, State Academic Coordinator, NCSC Jammu briefed the child scientists about the rules and regulations for appearing in National Children Science Congress.
The selected projects include Maidah Iftikhar (Atom Science Club, Anantnag), Mehvish Manzoor (Science Fever Group, Srinagar), Taibah Hilal (Atom Science Club, Anantnag), Priyanka (Learning Temple, Kathua), Mumtaha Mir (Mallinson Girls School, Srinagar), Nida Jan (Paramount School, Kishtwar), Muneeb Masoodi (Minto Circle School, Srinagar), Dheeraj Singh (K-Photon Science Club, Kishtwar), Harshdeep Singh (Shiksha Niketan, Jammu) Akhilesh Angurana (Happy Model School, Udhampur), Ruchita Bhatia (Govt. Girls Hr. Sec. School, Shastri Nagar), Yaqub Malik (Wisdom Tutorial, Kishtwar), Mandeep (Sharon Public School, Udhampur), Nidhi Singh (Presentation Convent, Jammu), Iftisam Nisar (Radiant Public School, Anantnag) and Aryan Sethi (Heritage Public School, Jammu.)
