JAMMU: J and K Jump Rope team brought laurels to State by clinching seven medals and second runner up Demo Cup Trophy in the 13th Junior National Jump Rope Championship held at Hanamsagar, fistrict Kopal in Karnatka from 7th to 11th January, 2017.
Ibrar Khan won gold and silver, Sonam Kumari won silver and bronze, Mohit, Ibrar, Aman and Nadeem won silver medal in Team event respectively. Priyanka, Tannu, Aryan, Aditya, Vikram Singh, Tarun Gupta, Serrat Arora and Prabjot Singh won sixth position in top 10 India Event of Jump Rope. The medal winner players have been selected for South Asian Championship to be held at Bhutan soon.
On returning back to Jammu, Vikram Singh, Chief Patron Jump Rope Association of J and K along with Naveen Kumar DTM Jammu Northen Railway, Rajeev Singh Jamwal Sarpanch Bhahval, Leela Jamwal Vice President Jump Rope Association of J and K welcomed the team and congratulated the players on their brilliant success in championship. Vikram said, “Our youths have talent but need suitable platform and support from government to display them at national and inter-national level.” Dr. Seema Pawan Manhas, General Secretary of Jump Rope Association of J and K, who escorted the J and K team, applauded the performances of the players and congratulated them for their bright future. She appealed to youths to come forward and take part in sports. All the players and General Secretary and other members of association expressed special thanks to Pawan Singh for providing excellent coaching to the J and K team.
