State gets 2 months for formulating New Master Plan

JAMMU: A Division Bench (DB) of J&K State High Court comprising Chief Justice N Paul Vasanthakumar and Justice Tashi Rabstan on Wednesday granted two months time to Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) for placing New Master Plan 2032. The DB was hearing a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) regarding unauthorized constructions in Jammu.
When the PIL came-up for hearing, the DB observed that in pursuance of Court directions, Additional Secretary to Government, Housing and Urban Development Department had filed compliance report on November 30, 2016 regarding preparation of Revised Master Plan. It was stated in the report that steps were taken and objections were received from the general public and placed before the Board of Inquiry on September 2, 2016.
The DB further observed that sustainable objections were finalized after discussions and all sustainable objections in the revised Master Plan Jammu 2032 are being addressed on Geographical Information System platform.
After addressing all aspects, the area calculations of existing and proposed land use is in progress and 75 per cent of report documents have been completed chapter wise and work is going on at required pace and is likely to be completed within two months
