State Cong delegation meets Sonia, discuss political scenario

NEW DELHI: A delegation of Congress party from Jammu and Kashmir led by Senior Congress leader and MLA Inderwal, Ghulam Mohammad Saroori on Friday called on All India Congress President, Sonia Gandhi here wherein the State Congress delegation discussed the latest political scenario in J and K and also discussed the future strategy regarding the possible alliance with any secular political front.
The delegation of State Congress comprised of senior Congress leader and MLA from Sopore, Haji Abdul Rashid Dar and Spokesperson and JKPCC Secretary Salman Nizami.
Sonia, during her discussion with visiting party delegation, reiterated to resolve that Congress would continue to remain in the service of the people of J and K to promote their overall development, peace and progress. She emphasised that Congress would continue to serve the people of J and K State to its best capacity and continue to fight divisive forces who wants to divide the people on religion and regional bases.
Reacting to the party performance in recently held Assembly elections, Sonia asserted that the party should have a distinctive identity at the grassroots level to make it the party of the future in Jammu and Kashmir. She advised the party leaders to remain in touch with the people and strengthen the party at grass root level by taking the people on board.
Later, Saroori, Haji Rashid and Nizami also met Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha, Ghulam Nabi Azad and General Secretary AICC and Incharge Jammu and Kashmir Ambica Soni and discussed various issues pertaining to the strengthening of Congress Party in J and K.
