State Baseball player in Indian team

SRINAGAR: Senior baseball player of the Jammu and Kashmir, Tahir Shabnum of Srinagar has been selected in the Indian team heading the BFA 13th Asia Cup Baseball Tournament, scheduled to be held at Jinnah Stadium in Islamabad, Pakistan from 25th February.
Tahir’s selection was made during the six-day selection process held at Chandigarh between 15th and 20th January, organised by the Amateur Baseball Federation of India. A senior baseball player of the State, Tahir represented J and K a number of times at the national level and also played for Kashmir University (KU) in All India Inter University Baseball Championship. Presently, Tahir is attending to the final coaching camp under way at Punjabi University, Patiala and shall leave to the venue in Pakistan on 24th February.
Meanwhile, General Secretary of the J and K Basketball Association, Fida Hussain Fidvi has been appointed technical official of the Indian squad for the same event.
Secretary, J and K State Sports Council, Waheed Ur Rahman Para appreciated the association for its efforts in promoting the game in the State.
Besides president, JKBA, M.M Gazanfar congratulated the association for selection of senior player in Indian Baseball contingent for prestigious international tournament.
