JAMMU: Organised by the Jammu and Kashmir Amateur Athletics Association under the aegis of J and K Sports Council and J and K Olympic Association, the 14th J and K State Athletic Championship got underway at MA Stadium, here on Sunday.
The competition was declared open by Commissioner Jammu Municipal Corporation
(JMC), Manmohan Singh, who interacted with the participating athletes from different districts and also gave away medals to the winners of a couple of events.
Near about 300 athletes from Samba, Udhampur, Poonch, Reasi, Kathua and Srinagar are participating in the championship.
Prominent among others present were Rangail Singh (President J and K Olympic Association), Ashutosh Sharma (Secretary J and K Olympic Association), Raj Daluja (Vice President J and K Olympic Association), Ravinder Singh General Secretary and S.S Gill Associate Secretary of the Association, Sunil Mahajan, Vikas Gupta, Nirmal Singh, Vinod, Tara Mani, Ramesh Sharma, Gurucharan Singh, Shamasdin and Sohan Lal.

MEN: Under 18 yrs: 1500 mts: Umar Hameed, Ist; Imtiaz Ahmed, 2nd and Vishavjeet Singh, 3rd. Shot Put: Mohd. Afzal, Ist; Nabdeep Singh, 2nd and Deepak Kumar, 3rd. 100 mts: Rahul Singh, Ist; Ayush Sharma, 2nd and Iftkhar, 3rd. 400 mts: Abhinav, Ist; Asaf-ul-Zaman, 2nd and Randheer, 3rd. 800 mts: Abhinav, Ist; Simranjeet, 2nd and Jhangir, 3rd.
UNDER-16 yrs: Shot Put: Roshan, Ist; Viney, 2nd and Ubaid, 3rd. 100 mts: Keshiv, Ist; Amaan, 2nd and Imran, 3rd. 400 mts: Randeep, Ist; Vipul, 2nd and Amarjeet, 3rd. 1000 mts: Aryaveer 1st, Ritik, 2nd and Shubam, 3rd.
UNDER- 20: 1500 mts: Sunil, Ist; Sarabjit, 2nd and Inderpal Singh, 3rd. Shot Put: Washeed Ahmed, Ist; Tarun Chib, 2nd and Gopal, 3rd. 100 mts: Vishal, Ist; Mohd Ishfaq, 2nd and Sunny, 3rd. 400 mts: Kulbir, Ist; Rajan, 2nd and Sarabjeet, 3rd.
