POONCH: Activists of Samaj Sewa Society (SSS) Poonch along with locals held a protest against the Flood Control and Irrigation Department and accused that the officers of the department have done mass corruption in 2014 floods. They said Minister of Flood Control Sham Lal Chowdhary must look into their demands as there is no work of construction of Bund or retaining walls along the danger zones near the Betar Nallah.
They demanded a vigilance inquiry as people residing near the Betar Nalla and Sher-e-Kashmir Bridge are suffering from great loss of economy and being prone to floods.
They said bunds and retaining walls should be made to divert the flow of water otherwise locals will be forced to launch a massive protest if action not taken. They requested the CM Mehbooba Mufti to look into the case and order inquiry as the people of these areas are living in continuous danger of floods.
