JAMMU: Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jammu, Chandan Kohli has been appointed as Deputy Secretary in the Cabinet Secretariat on deputation basis.
“The competent authority has approved the appointment of Chandan Kohli, (IPS of AGMUT Cadre 2013) as Deputy Secretary in the Senior Executive Cadre of the Cabinet Secretariat on deputation basis,” read a communication issued by the Centre.
It is pertinent to mention that Chandan Kohli was posted as SSP Jammu in the month of March 2021. He was handling the command of the entire district for about two and a half years. Before this, he has held the command of SSP Rajouri, Pulwama and Awantipora districts.
He solved many terrorism cases while posted in Jammu and under his supervision many successful encounters have taken place in which terrorists have been killed and drone cases have been resolved.
While holding the command of Jammu district, every effort was made by him to give a clean image of the police to the people of the district. Many old cases have been resolved. Apart from this, cases like Gandhi Nagar robbery were solved within time. Many drug smugglers were put behind bars and PSA has been imposed on him.
In the last two and a half years, major action has been taken in the cases of drug trade and mining across the district under the supervision of SSP Kohli. Not only this, public meetings were regularly held at the police station level to strengthen the relations between the police and the public. There are about 25 police stations in Jammu district and SSP Kohli kept an eye on the functioning of every police station.
