JAMMU: Shiv Sena Hindustan (SSH) on Thursday said people of Jammu region are being neglected and discriminated despite tall claims of BJP that it is well-wisher of people of Jammu and it will fight tooth and nail any discrimination with Jammu region.
This was stated by State President, Shiv Sena Hindustan, Rajesh Kesri while addressing media persons here on Thursday.
Expressing disappointment over surrender of BJP for the sake of power, Kesri said that discrimination still persists with Jammu region despite the fact that we have BJP led Govts both at Centre and State level.
“The State Government has miserably failed to ensure equitable development of all the three regions of the State”, he added. He said BJP at the time of elections had assured people of Jammu region that decade old discrimination will come to an end once BJP comes into power. However, the fact of the matter is that the people of Jammu region are still feeling neglected and discriminated in the present regime, Kesri said.
Quoting few examples of discrimination where BJP remained mute spectator, Kesri said that in the tourism sector, Jammu got merely 25 per cent funds allocation and out of 13 newly identified tourist spots for development, Jammu has only four whereas rest are in Kashmir province. Out of 12 indoor stadiums envisaged only three are allocated to Jammu region and nine to Kashmir province with two in Ladakh. Kesri said the discrimination is being faced by the people of the region in the matter of development of roads, infrastructure, irrigation, agriculture and horticulture sector.
He cautioned the government of a great resentment brewing among the people of Jammu province and therefore immediate steps need to be taken for the redressal of grievances of the people. Making a particular mention of the 10,000 posts of SPOs that were sanctioned by the Govt. of India for J and K, Kesri regretted that all such 10,000 posts were assigned to various districts of Kashmir region with full consent of BJP ministers. He said that there has been a massive student and youth uproar over the biased selection of lecturers and Assistant Professors having been made during the last two years by the Public Service Commission.
Kesri asked the BJP to stop the diversionary tactics and not indulge in rhetoric to allegedly befool the masses. He said it’s time for the party to act as it’s in power at the Centre and State. He said that the BJP has a compulsion to divert attention of the public because of its failure to honour a single commitment and stood exposed for compromising its agenda and sell out of the aspirations of the people of Jammu region.
