JAMMU: A delegation of JK SRTC Workers Union led by its Chairman, Wajahat Hussain met Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti and briefed her about the disadvantages of dilution of SRO-157.
The delegation apprised the Chief Minister that private transporters with active support of officials of Food, Consumer Supplies and Consumer Affairs (FCSCA) and Finance Department managed to mislead the State Cabinet and succeeded to get the proposal approved to hire private transport from open market in violation of SRO-157. She was also briefed about Rs 37 crore embezzlement pointed out in audit report of FCSCA Department by civil transporters. Chief Minister was given information that how the influential people within the FCSCA Department managed to allot work to private transporters in Doda, Kishtwar, Udhampur and Gowran Anantnag without tenders, in sheer violation of SRO-157 and also disbursed the payment from State Exchequer fraudulently.
The delegation made it clear before the highest chair of the State that in case the transportation of food grains is given to private operators this will be the biggest scandal of the Corporation and the employees will left no stone un-turned to agitate the matter before appropriate forums besides agitation on roads.
The Chief Minister CM assured the delegation that every possible step will be taken to ensure that interests of SRTC workers are safeguarded.
Provincial President Paramjeet Singh, Vice President Mohan Singh, Balwender Singh, Mohammad Arif, Narender Paul Singh, Dil Mohammad, Dharam Veer Singh, Gurbaksh Singh, Darshan, Tirath Ram and Dilbagh also accompanied the delegation.
