SRTC VRS employees protest for pending dues

JAMMU: All J and K SRTC Volunteer Retired Employees Association staged a protest on Monday in front of Press Club against non-serious attitude of the Transport and Finance Department for not clearing their pending dues.
The protest was led by VRS Union of SRTC, Dev Raj Bali, who while addressing the VRS employees, criticised the attitude of higher authorities of Transport and Finance Department of the State towards VRS and GHS employees.
Later, protesters started a rally towards Civil Secretariat which was foiled by police at Press Club.
Bali and General Secretary, Surinder Singh strongly criticised the attitude of the J and K Coalition Government for not releasing their legitimate dues.
They unanimously decided that in ensuing Assembly elections they will not extend support to the ruling coalition and will extend support to another party which assures of solving their demands, Bali said.
Their demands include release of 126 slabs of Cost of Living Allowance (COLA) with effect from 1st January, 2006, pending arrears with effect from 1999 and Sixth Pay Commission arrears with effect from 1st January, 2006.
Others present during the demonstration included J.D Singh, B.V Sharma, Prem Nath, Surjit Singh, Balwinder Singh, Gulshan Singh and Kulbir Singh.
