SRS slams Govt for blanket ban on Internet in Jammu region

 STATE TIMES NEWS
JAMMU: Strongly condemning the continuous ban on Internet services by the State Government in Jammu region, Rajiv Mahajan, State President, Shri Ram Sena (SRS), on Wednesday accused the government of covering up its administrative failure by blocking the Internet and communication services in the State.
Talking to reporters here, Rajiv Mahajan said how PDP-BJP alliance can justify losses to business community, common masses, students and media houses.
“There was no justification behind bringing Jammu province under the purview of this blanket ban on Internet”, he said adding that this decision of government has brought whole of the Jammu region to standstill.
“This decision has caused loss of crores of rupees to the business houses as in the present era of digitalisation majority of the business activities are carried out through Internet,” he said adding that students also suffer due to ban as they fail to upload or download the admission forms for seeking admission in various colleges inside and outside the State.
“It is pity that BJP, which came to power by winning seats from Jammu province, didn’t utter any word when decision about extension of Internet ban in Jammu region of the State was taken,” he alleged.
However, he said, by imposing ban on Internet services in Jammu region government has sent a message that Jammu is also a disturbed region like Kashmir Valley and this would have adverse impact on the inflow of tourists.
Stating that by this decision the government has given a wrong signal country-wide, Rajiv said it gave a wrong impression about the Jammu province in the country and people outside the State have started thinking that Jammu is also a disturbed area like Kashmir Valley.
“Instead of ensuring rule of law to prevail by tightening noose around anti-national elements, this government decided to cover up its failure, which is very unfortunate”, he said.
