SRS seeks Rs 5 lakh compensation, job for 2008 Amarnath Land row victims

STATE TIMES NEWS
JAMMU: State President, Shri Ram Sena, Rajiv Mahajan on Tuesday urged the government to pay compensation to martyrs who have lost their lives during Amarnath Yatra row in 2008.
He urged the government to pay Rs. 5 lakh as compensation and government jobs to the family members of martyrs of Amarnath Land row of 2008.
He castigated State Government for not giving compensation to Amarnath Land row victims despite assurance by government.
The BJP, now in government, is indifferent to the sacrifices of the Jammu youth, he said.
He said BJP-PDP alliance announced compensation of Rs 5 lakh and a job to those killed during Kashmir unrest of 2016 but it failed to provide a penny to victims of Amarnath land row agitation in Jammu in the year 2008 which is a clear discriminatory attitude of government towards Jammuites.
“It is not only for Kuldeep Verma that the right for justice is imperative, but for the 13 families which gave their sons in the agitation required to be taken care of by the party, which it had not done while in the government,” he said.
He said for the past nine years, the BJP had been observing the day as ‘Balidan Divas’ and giving statements in honour of the deceased, but never pursued their cases.
“Riding the success of the Amarnath land row, the party rose to a position from where it got the first chance to be in the government in the State. It got 25 MLAs from Jammu province, but for its present status, it had become a totally Kashmir-centric party while Jammu was ignored in all aspects,” he said.
He wanted the BJP to shun its appeasement policy towards Kashmir and look back to Jammu, where it would have to come again for votes.
