JAMMU: Shri Ram Sena (SRS) on Friday said that poor management of water supply has left Jammuites in many parts of the city angry and exasperated.
Talking to reporters, State President SRS Rajiv Mahajan said some parts of the city were receiving water for more than two hours twice a day, while other areas had to depend on water tankers. “The water is supplied either late at night or afternoon, which is causing lot of inconvenience. The employees are the worst sufferers as they have time only in the mornings to get fresh water supply,” he added. “There has been minimal supply of water in many areas of Jammu city too with no proper timing because of which people are unable to carry on daily chores,” said Rajiv Mahajan. He said that the pressure of water supply is so low that it becomes difficult to even store the water in tanks on rooftops. “Some government employees are unable to get ready for office on time without water supply in the morning,” he alleged.
“Due to water supply in the afternoon, housewives are neither able to complete their cooking etc, nor are they able to wash clothes or utensils in the absence of stored water,” he maintained. He demanded drinking water supply through pipelines from 6:00 AM onwards daily. He appealed to Governor N.N Vohra to intervene and streamline the water supply.
