SRINAGAR: Two different meetings and interactions on Wednesday were held by the Secretary, Jammu and Kashmir State Sports Council, Waheed-ur-Rehman Parra, in Srinagar related to the maximum youth participation in different sports activities and the ongoing centrally sponsored scheme ‘Khelo India’, where more than 1,20,000 sportspersons are participating in the State.
Both the meetings were held at Indoor Sports Complex on separate timings, where all the block level coordinators, managers, in charge sports stadiums were present, besides a huge participation of players and sportspersons.
“We have decided that the cricket and football coaching camps will be held for the aspiring players/youth of Srinagar in the Srinagar and Ganderbal districts respectively,” informed Parra.
He further added that some of the talented youth will be coordinating the ongoing Khelo India Scheme in different districts. Secretary Sports Council on the spot directed the concerned officials for the availability of ground and the necessary logistics for the aspiring players of Srinagar District.
“We have made star Cricketer Abid Nabi available for the aspiring cricket players of Kashmir, who will impart training to them and we assure every possible help to them,” said Secretary Sports Council.
He further added that such camps will nurture out the best talent in different disciplines of the sports and will help in the mission of reviving the lost sports culture in the State of Jammu and Kashmir.
It is pertinent to mention here that the popularity of youth sports continues to rise, with an estimated 1,20,000 participants in the ongoing Khelo India Scheme including school-aged children.
Divisional Sports Officer Kashmir, Nuzhat Ara besides other officials of the Sports Council were present during the separate meetings.
