Sports organisations, schools grieved over Mufti’s demise

JAMMU: Sports organisations and individuals on Thursday expressed their heartfelt condolence over the sudden demise of Chief Minister and President of the J and K State Sports Council, Mufti Mohammed Sayeed.
The Jammu and Kashmir State Sports Council Coaches Association termed Mufti’s demise great loss to the State, especially in sports. Being president of the autonomous sports body, Mufti was instrumental in taking policy decisions for the overall growth of the sports in J and K. Speaking in a condolence meeting, members highlighted the initiatives taken by present government under Mufti Sayeed.
Vice Chairman of State Sports Council, Jammu District and member BCCI, Ranjeet Kalra have also condoled the passing away of Mufti Mohd Sayeed. While terming the departed leader as visionary, a statesman and a man of the masses, Kalra recalled the various people friendly initiatives of Mufti, especially in establishment of new sports infrastructure in the State.
To condole the demise of Chief Minister, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and pay respect to the departed soul, the Hockey Jammu and Kashmir postponed today’s scheduled matches of ongoing Jammu District Hockey Championship at KK Hakku Stadium, here. It was decided to resume the event after a gap of two days.
Government College of Education staff and students condoled the demise of Mufti Mohd Sayeed. They prayed to the Almighty to grant peace to the departed soul and give courage to the bereaved family to bear this irreparable loss.
The Vice Chancellor of the Central University of Jammu, Prof. Ashok Aima, while expressing deep sorrow and grief over the demise of the Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, said that Mufti was a visionary leader and the void created by him cannot be filled. He extended his most heartfelt sorrow and condolences to the bereaved family of departed soul.
Executive members of Central Body of Private Schools Association Jammu including its President Kamal Gupta, Vice President R. Mengi, Secretary cum State Coordinator Ajay Gupta, Office Secretary Sanjeev Luthra, Joint Secretary Vaneet Gupta, R.K Mattoo and Vivek Chouhan conveyed heartfelt condolences on the passing away of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed. Remembering contribution of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed for the society, they prayed to God for the peace to the departed soul.
Principal, staff and students of Govt. College for Women, Udhampur condoled the sad demise of Mufti Sayeed, and prayed to God to grant eternal peace to the departed soul and give strength and courage to the bereaved family to bear this irreparable loss.
Himalayan Education Mission, Rajouri, on Thursday condoled the demise of Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed. The condolence meeting was attended by a large number of students, faculty, management and respected members of the civil society in Himalayan College premises.
The principal of the institute declared Mufti as one of the towering political giants of Jammu and Kashmir who has made immense contribution in taking this State to new heights by dint of his vision and hardwork.
The speakers expressed deep shock over his death and termed it as an irreparable loss.
The prominent among those who spoke and attended the meeting included Farooq Muztar, Nisar Rahi, Azam Shah, Talib Malik, Rashid Qamar, Dr Abdul Mabood, Prof Shareef Couhan, Prof Zia Ur Rehman and Ved Praksh.
