JAMMU: Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs, Molvi Imran Raza Ansari on Thursday said, the State Government will felicitate world kick-boxing champion Tajamul Islam hailing from Bandipora, Kashmir.
Ansari said Tajamul’s feat is the moment of pride for the whole country in general and for the state of Jammu and Kashmir in particular.
“Tajamul’s achievement goes on to show how talented our boys and girls truly are,” the minister said. “It becomes imperative to honour and celebrate such feats of our sportsperson,” he said.
The 8-year-old girl kick-boxing champion, Tajamul Islam created history by winning kick-boxing championship in junior category in Italy earlier this month. She defeated her rival from USA. Before winning gold in Italy, Tajamul had created history by becoming national kick-boxing champion at 7.
The minister said the state government is always working to harness the sporting skills of J and K youth. “It is just a matter of time before sportspersons would be counted among the best in the world,” Ansari said and added that her feat will also motivate others to chase their dreams fearlessly.
