Special drive for unemployed youth of Kashmir from Oct 2

SRINAGAR: A special drive for unemployed youth especially SC/ST candidates under Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) will be started from October 2, on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti at PMTC, KVIC, Pampore. The programme is a part of the overall initiative for addressing economic issues in J and K.
While steps are being taken by the State and Central Government to revive economic activity in J and K, PMEGP programme is a special initiative to address the needs of the educated unemployed in J and K. PMEGP programme is focused on youth of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K). The aim is to provide skills and job opportunities to the youth.
It was observed that youth from J and K were unable to find employment in many fields as either they were unaware of the opportunity in the various field or the fields were unaware of the talent pool that existed in J and K. The principal focus of the PMEGP programme is to create an ecosystem that would bridge this gap of unemployment.
Giving details about the programme, Anil Kumar Sharma, Assistant Director, Incharge Kashmir Province said that besides special drive under PMEGP various other programmes will be conducted on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti.
He said on this occasion Swachh Bharat Abhiyan will be conducted at PMTC, KVIC, Pampore in order to make people aware about the cleanliness needed to be kept around our surroundings.
Anil who is also Principal, PMTC, Pampore said that a special plantation drive will be conducted during which employees, trainees and students of various schools will plant trees. Further, a painting competition will also be conducted during which students of various schools will show their talent in the field of art. Anil said that Chairman, Vinai Kumar Saxena, Member (NZ), KVIC Dr. Hina Shafi Bhat and State Director Vinay Kumar during their recent visit to the PMTC, KVIC Pampore had emphasised for the above programmes on this special occasion of Gandhi Jayanti.
