JAMMU: All J and K Chess Association with the cooperation of J and K State Sports Council will host South Asian Amateur Chess Championship at Sher-e-Kashmir Indoor Stadium Srinagar from 1st to 6th September, 2016.
Talking to media persons, Atul Kumar Gupta, President of All J and K Chess Association and Joint Secretary All India Chess Federation, said it will be the biggest chess event ever held in the history of J and K in
which around 250 players from eight SAARC countries including about 75 players from J and K State are expected to participate.
Total nine rounds under Swiss System will be played in this event in which cash prizes worth Rs. 10,00,000 will be distributed among the winners along with certificates and trophies, he said adding that Asian Chess Federation President will appoint Chief Arbiter of this event with seven Deputy Arbiters. There are special prizes for veterans, women and young players, he added.
He requested players to
register their entry before 1st July 2016 and with late fee upto 1st August 2016 adding that Organising Committee may decline the entry after 1st July 2016.

Players below 2,000 FIDE Rating or unrated players can participate in it he said adding that participation certificate will be given to all the players.
