JAMMU: SOS International organised a rally to discuss the demands of PoK displaced persons including relief package here at Rehari on Sunday.

Large number of PoK displaced persons attended the rally and raised their voice against the biased approach of government towards their genuine demands. Several PoK Displaced Persons expressed their concern against Union and State governments over the delay in settlement package which was sent to Central Government for its implementation.

While welcoming Guest of Honour Charanjit Singh Khalsa, Chairman SOS International Rajiv Chuni appealed him to raise the issue of Displaced Persons with government functionaries for an early redressal. He expressed concern that despite being listed in the Common Minimum Programme (CMP) of State Coalition, the issues of PoK displaced persons have been ignored.

Chuni said it is unfortunate that during last 68 years none of the successive governments have considered the issues and demands of PoK displaced persons seriously.

He lamented that despite projecting its desire to resolve the issue in party manifesto, the BJP has failed to implement things on ground. He demanded that it is in the interest of all that the incumbent government takes up the issue of refugees on priority and settle the pending relief package.

Khalsa after listening to the plight of PoK displaced persons assured him of early disposal of all the issues.

J.S Mangal, Lalit Kumar, Roshan Lal, Virinder Khajuria, Sanjay Subash Suri, Raghunandan Singh Bali and Kohli also spoke on the occasion.
